Mind Spa Welfare Society, a dedicated NGO working to destigmatize mental illness through psychoeducation, marked World Drug Awareness Day by conducting a special awareness program for the Armed Forces at Old Cantt, Panther Auditorium. The event was also telecast live across three Army stations, ensuring wider participation. The session was led by Ms. Namrata Gupta, President and Family Counselor, and Ms. Anu Poddar, Treasurer and Family Counselor, Mind Spa Welfare Society. They explained the disease model of addiction, its causes, and recovery strategies, emphasizing that addiction is a cunning and complex disease but one that can be managed with awareness, family support, and structured recovery models. The interactive lecture was well received, as it moved beyond the conventional “don’t do drugs” message and instead provided fresh insights and practical steps for families to prevent and address addiction. Participants shared that the session brought a shift in outdated beliefs and perspectives, giving them tools to better understand and respond to the issue.

The event was graced by Mrs. Shraddha Kartik, First Lady of Panther Division and wife of GOC, Mrs. Santosh Chhillar, wife of Deputy GOC, and Mrs. Ruby Dhotar, wife of Brigade Commander and overall in-charge of the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Namrata Gupta reiterated the Society’s mission:
“Mind Spa Welfare Society is committed to spreading psychoeducation to reduce stigma around mental health and addiction. For us, working with the Army and uniformed personnel is a priority, as our national heroes deserve every possible support for their mental and emotional well-being.”
The event concluded with a Hi-Tea at the Gun House, where discussions were held on strengthening collaboration between the Army and Mind Spa Welfare Society. The NGO pledged its full support for ongoing awareness sessions to help soldiers and their families build resilience and foster healthier, addiction-free communities.
