Young Minds Meet – 🧠Understanding Stress 😟

The Physical, Emotional & Behavioral Cycle.
Stress exists in two forms—positive stress, known as eustress, and negative stress, known as distress. Eustress is God-made; it is meant to induce effort, encourage growth, and push us toward purpose and progress. It motivates us to act, learn, and rise to challenges. However, when perfectionism and overthinking take over, this natural stress often gets converted into distress.
Distress affects us at multiple levels—body, emotions, and behaviour—simultaneously. Physically, it may cause fatigue, muscle tension, sleep disturbances, and lowered immunity. Emotionally, it can lead to anxiety, irritability, and low mood. Behaviourally, it may show up as withdrawal, restlessness, poor concentration, or unhealthy coping habits. These reactions feed into each other, creating a cycle that sustains stress and drains our mental energy.
To understand and manage this necessary evil, we came together for an online interactive session on Sunday, 8th February, from 3:00–4:00 pm. The discussion was meaningful and insightful. Participants explored the fine line between eustress and distress, discovered new skills, and learned practical techniques to channel stress in a healthier way.
