On 24th May , 2025 Mind Spa Welfare Society successfully hosted Schizophrenia Awareness Day, bringing together influential leaders and opinion-makers from across society.
The Society, a dedicated NGO, continues its mission of raising awareness about mental health issues and working to destigmatize them. Its core vision is to advocate for the well-being of persons with mental illnesses (PMI) and their families, while addressing their medical, psychological, social, and economic needs.
The event had three clear objectives:
1. To promote acceptance of schizophrenia as a treatable brain disorder.
2. To foster deeper public understanding.
3. To reduce stigma associated with the condition, which continues to affect millions globally.
The event was graced by distinguished leaders from various sectors of society, including esteemed members of FICCI FLO, Inner Wheel, and Phulkari. Their presence emphasized the critical role of multi-sectoral collaboration in building a supportive mental health ecosystem.

Highlights of the Day:
1. Expert Insights: Leading professionals, especially Dr. Sneha, shared the latest scientific understanding of schizophrenia, effective treatment options, and the life-changing importance of early intervention. Psychoeducation was highlighted as a cornerstone in reducing stigma. When communities, families, and workplaces are educated about the biological basis of schizophrenia and the availability of effective treatments, myths begin to dissolve, compassion grows, and recovery is made possible.
2. Personal Stories: Heartfelt accounts from individuals with lived experiences and their families demonstrated courage, resilience, and the importance of acceptance. These narratives reminded everyone that people with schizophrenia can lead fulfilling lives with proper support.
3. Psychodrama: A powerful, experiential psychodrama session offered attendees a deeper emotional and psychological understanding of schizophrenia. The participation of patients added authenticity, helping observers empathize with the struggles faced by those living with the condition.
The collective presence of mental health professionals, societal leaders, and changemakers underscored the urgent need for society-wide psychoeducation. Ignorance and stigma often prevent individuals from seeking timely help. Education, on the other hand, normalizes conversations, fosters inclusion, and builds hope.
The Mind Spa Welfare Society extended invitations to media representatives, mental health advocates, educators, business leaders, and families—reflecting its commitment to engaging the entire community. Together, they reaffirmed that understanding and awareness are the first steps toward a more compassionate and inclusive society.
